MDC Steering Committee Announces Executive Director is Leaving
Gino Giannandrea, the Chair of the Steering Committee of the Maritime Discovery Center, announced today that Bob Burchett would be leaving his position as Executive Director.
Mr. Burchett, who had been with the MDC on a one year contract, has accepted a position as General Manager, Parks and Recreation Programming & Facilities with the City of Guelph.
Mr. Giannandrea accepted Bob’s resignation with regret saying that he has enjoyed working with Bob and has appreciated both his work ethic and knowledge base, which have helped the MDC progress to where it is today. “Bob's efforts and expertise have moved us one year closer to realizing our goal of opening the MDC in June 2012". He wishes Bob well in his new position.
Mr. Burchett expressed his gratitude for the support he received from the City and the Steering Committee. He says that he remains convinced that the project is a very important one for the City of Brockville and well worth doing.
The MDC Steering Committee members will be meeting later this week to discuss their staffing needs as the project moves into its full design and construction stages.
